Our mission

Hi, I’m Stephanie Small, a Toronto-based sports dietitian, PhD student, and owner of Stephanie Small Coaching. I specialize in helping athletes and professionals—from marathon runners and triathletes to MMA fighters and corporate executives—unlock their full potential through science-driven, realistic nutrition strategies.

I have completed a 50k ultramarathon, 3 marathons, 3 half-marathons, and currently training for an Ironman for 2025!

I believe nutrition should fit your lifestyle, not complicate it. Every athlete is unique, and I’m here to create personalized fueling plans that help you feel and perform your best. With over 8 years of experience, worked with over 200+ athletes, and a passion for what I do, I’m ready to help you reach your goals. Let’s fuel your success together!

  • Regulation and Licensing: Sports Dietitians are regulated health professionals and must adhere to strict professional and ethical standards. In many regions, they must be registered with a regulatory body to practice.
  • Scope of Practice: Sports Dietitians can provide medical nutrition therapy, develop personalized nutrition plans, and work in clinical settings. They are trained to manage a wide range of health conditions through diet and specialize in optimizing athletic performance.

What’s the Difference?

Dietitian vs. Nutritionist

sports dietitian:

  • Education and Credentials: The title "nutritionist" is less regulated and can be used by individuals with varying levels of education, from a certificate to a doctoral degree. Some nutritionists may have advanced degrees and certifications, while others may not.
  • Regulation and Licensing: Nutritionists are not as strictly regulated as sports dietitians. In many places, the title does not require registration or adherence to a regulatory body.
  • Scope of Practice: Nutritionists can provide general nutrition advice and education. However, they may not be qualified to provide medical nutrition therapy or work in clinical settings unless they have advanced credentials and certifications.
