Our mission

  • Education and Credentials: Sports Dietitians are required to complete a minimum of a bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field. They must also complete a supervised practice program, typically an internship, and pass a national registration exam.
  • Regulation and Licensing: Sports Dietitians are regulated health professionals and must adhere to strict professional and ethical standards. In many regions, they must be registered with a regulatory body to practice.
  • Scope of Practice: Sports Dietitians can provide medical nutrition therapy, develop personalized nutrition plans, and work in clinical settings. They are trained to manage a wide range of health conditions through diet and specialize in optimizing athletic performance.

What’s the Difference?

Dietitian vs. Nutritionist

sports dietitian:

  • Education and Credentials: The title "nutritionist" is less regulated and can be used by individuals with varying levels of education, from a certificate to a doctoral degree. Some nutritionists may have advanced degrees and certifications, while others may not.
  • Regulation and Licensing: Nutritionists are not as strictly regulated as sports dietitians. In many places, the title does not require registration or adherence to a regulatory body.
  • Scope of Practice: Nutritionists can provide general nutrition advice and education. However, they may not be qualified to provide medical nutrition therapy or work in clinical settings unless they have advanced credentials and certifications.
